Hong Kong’s traditional festivals are occasions at which etiquette, customs, ceremonies and ethnic cultures are displayed publicly and involve intangible cultural heritage (ICH). In this programme, curators from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office will provide the audience with a better understanding of various crafts made for festivals by ICH masters and the tools they use.
The exhibition presents ICH practices and products used in traditional festivals according to four types of sounds: vocal, instrumental, physical and situational. Through sounds produced by the throat, instruments and body movements, and heard during different celebrations, visitors can appreciate the timeless ingenuity and perseverance of ICH masters.
