Promoting Exchange between the Academies Through Dance

A selection of three dance works of eclectic styles, performed by students from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, will be brought to Central China Normal University. Chinese dance Upon Calligraphy is the work of renowned choreographer Liu Qi. Set against moving image, the selected excerpts illuminate the five Chinese calligraphy styles. The Acceptance of Being by Carlo Pacis, guest choreographer of the Academy, is a ballet choreographed to Bach’s cello suite. With the accompaniment by the School of Music, young dancers explore growing up and their selves. Lost Paradise is a work of modern dance by Jorge Jauregui Allue, artist-in-residence at the Academy. With a minimalist stage design, the performance spotlights the unique character of each student dancer. The screenings will be followed by an online dance workshop and an online sharing session respectively to promote cultural exchange between the academies.
