Led by Hong Kong’s foremost contemporary dance choreographer Terry Tsang King-fai, award winner of “Young Artist (Dance)” at the 18th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards in 2024, and joined by with a stellar creative team the programme showcases the unique physical charisma of Korean dancers from both traditional and contemporary backgrounds. Together, they merge the eerie and intense physical ritual of Cantonese traditional “Breaking the Hell’s Gate” exploring the connection between life and death, creating a distinctive dance aesthetic alongside Korean dance luminaries from both folk and contemporary traditions. This performance presents a theatrical celebration, expanding the discourse on ritual dance and existential themes into an international common language.

Labora Terry Arts, founded by Hong Kong dance artist Terry Tsang, is committed to exploring and promoting the future landscape of interdisciplinary arts. The group’s creative fields include contemporary dance, dance theatre, dance film, and photography, as well as dance education and training.
