About HKW

Hong Kong Week is a major cultural exchange extravaganza organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. Presented as an arts festival to showcase the essence of Hong Kong arts and to foster the cultural exchange between Hong Kong and cities in Mainland China as well as overseas. The first event, Festival Hong Kong 2019 – A Cultural Extravaganza@Shanghai, was held from 1 to 23 November 2019. Subsequently, Hong Kong Week 2021@Guangzhou and Hong Kong Week 2022@Wuhan, Hubei were presented on 17 April - 5 June 2021 and 15 February - 5 March 2023 respectively, in a hybrid mode combining online and offline events due to the pandemic.

To further promote Hong Kong as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange, this year’s Hong Kong Week will be held in an overseas city for the first time, presenting Hong Kong’s outstanding artistic achievements to world audiences, nurturing the growth of performing arts diversity and strengthening cultural exchanges. Hong Kong Week 2023@Bangkok is set to grace Bangkok, Thailand from 21 October to 12 November, featuring a diverse array of 9 programmes including concerts, dance performance, film screenings, thematic exhibitions, and other extension activities. In addition to the collaboration across various LCSD offices in organising the event, Hong Kong Week also extends invitations to different arts and cultural organisations from both Hong Kong and Bangkok. This collaborative effort seeks to enhance meaningful interactions among artists, deepen mutual understanding between people from both regions, foster collaboration and promote development of arts and culture in both areas.
